10 WWE Moments We Were Sure Would Happen In 2014 (But Didn’t) 2

2. Daniel Bryan Vs. Brock Lesnar

Daniel Bryan Brock Lesnar

It seemed like a lock. Lesnar is one of the best bully heels there’s ever been in wrestling and with Bryan locked in as the best underdog babyface in WWE, that would have been a perfect match. It didn’t happen.
The reports were that WWE was going to do Lesnar vs. Bryan at SummerSlam, likely for the WWE Title, but due to Bryan’s severe neck injury that required surgery he’s been out of action and we still have no idea when he’s going to come back. Considering that Lesnar had already had matches with a lot of WWE’s other top names in the past, it made sense that he would face Bryan. It would have been fresh and different.
This was one of those cases where the situation was out of the hands of the wrestlers and the creative team. There’s nothing that could have been done to make it happen. Bryan needed the surgery. He had to do it.
Hopefully we can see this match in the future although it would have been more special in 2014. It’s going to be hard for Bryan to get that momentum back, but he will still be very sympathetic as a guy that missed most of the year due to injury.
