1. Making WWE Serious Again

Brock Lesnar is a legitimate athlete. FANS perceive him to be a genuine tough guy, harking back to his days as UFC Champion. By now booking Brock as WWE Champion, Vince McMahon can really benefit from those connotations. It adds an aura of legitimacy to the entire WWE. After years of Cena as champion, Lesnar’s dismantling him at SummerSlam sent the message that a new era was arriving. WWE can now book a solid few months of Lesnar dominating, which in the long run will heighten perceptions of the WWE brand. By making championship bouts about toughness and athleticism, WWE might just re-engage some fans who tuned out during Cena’s era of superficiality.
Just five years ago, Brock Lesnar was putting UFC’s BOX OFFICE in the million range. Half a decade on, WWE will be hoping that Lesnar’s legitimate toughness will restore some commercial glory to pro wrestling’s faltering product. He’s certainly got as good a chance as anyone in the Champion role. The Beast is something different and already we’re excited to see what happens next.
Congratulations to WWE for being so bold in both his title WIN and the manner in which he won it.
