2. The Injuries Are Mounting

There was a story earlier in the week that we reported on about how WWE was concerned about Cena’s health due to past injuries involving his arm and neck. He’s had multiple surgeries to repair those injuries in the past, but it’s not like they are going away.
Since Cena wrestles a regular schedule he’s always putting pressure on his body. The older he gets, the more strain he puts on his neck and even though he is always going to be in great shape, there’s no way that his neck is ever going to be 100% again. Then there’s the fact that he’s out there wrestling matches like the match he had against Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam when he was on the receiving end of 16 German Suplexes. That can’t be good for the body even though he knew it was coming.
There’s no wrestler that will ever retire without injuries that they will feel for the rest of their life. Anybody that says otherwise is lying, which isn’t a surprise because wrestlers are always workers.
People that don’t like wrestling or don’t understand it are naive about what’s real about wrestling. Those injuries are very real and Cena’s at a point in his life where he’s probably feeling the pain more than any point in his life. At some point he’s going to say he doesn’t want to feel that pain anymore and then stop taking those bumps simply because he’s in a position where he’ll be able to stop when he wants to.
