5. Step Six – New Year And The Road To Royal Rumble
The Christmas and New Year festivities will mean Lesnar won’t need to be on Raw very often at the turn of the year, but an appearance from the jolly old Beast wouldn’t go amiss soon after the holidays. The Royal Rumble will be approaching and a title defence will be expected – especially given it’s one of the top three events of the year and it’s subscription renewal season for the WWE Network.
As other superstars on the roster throw their name in to the hat in the 30-man over the top rope match, Lesnar will need a worthy opponent for what really should be his final match before WrestleMania 31. Enter Batista.
Last year’s Rumble match winner is another who has not been given his one-on-one title shot since earning it at the start of 2014. Sure, Batista was a part of the main event on the Grandest Stage of Them All last time out (and he tapped out), but given he will be back around by the end of this year it’s likely he will end up seeking a singles match. Next year’s Royal Rumble is a logical time for Batista to have it.
