10 WWE Moments We Were Sure Would Happen In 2014 (But Didn’t) 3

3. CM Punk Feuding With Triple H

WWE.com

At the end of 2013, it was revealed that CM Punk was going to feud with Triple H, which would have led to a match at WrestleMania. That was the plan that was revealed towards the end of 2013. At the time, Punk was in a storyline with Paul Heyman, who had turned on him, and all The Authority was doing was making life difficult for Daniel Bryan. It was as if Punk lived in another universe. Then all of a sudden The Shield (still heels at the time) went after Punk and that’s how he was brought into it.
All of it was going to lead to Punk having that match with Hunter. Punk was very open on the microphone as he challenged Triple H all the time. He wanted a match. He didn’t get it. Hunter was basically ignoring him, but then Hunter sent Kane out at the Royal Rumble and he blatantly cost Punk the match. It was the last time we saw CM Punk in a WWE ring.
When Punk left, everything changed. Suddenly it was Daniel Bryan that ended up working with Triple H at WrestleMania instead and then he ended the night as the WWE Champion too. If CM Punk didn’t leave, it may not have happened.
We thought we would see Punk vs. Triple H. Instead, there’s major doubt that we’ll ever see CM Punk in a WWE ring again.
