10 WWE Moments We Were Sure Would Happen In 2014 (But Didn’t)

So about that older guy going 22-0 at WrestleMania...

The summer is coming to a close and now that SummerSlam is over, two thirds of the year are almost done. The September to December months are generally slower for WWE. With that in mind, it’s time to take a look back at some things that we thought would happen in the first eight months of the year and just didn’t happen for whatever reason.
Think about how much things have changed this year. We started out with Batista being announced as returning and he went on to win the Royal Rumble. That happened just like most of us assumed it would. Daniel Bryan wasn’t even in the match even though he was clearly the most popular guy. Fans online as well as in arenas were genuinely angry about it. If the fan reaction didn’t change maybe WWE would have went ahead with Batista as the lone challenger to the WWE Title at WrestleMania 30, but they listened, things changed and we got the satisfying ending at WrestleMania 30 with Daniel Bryan on top. It wasn’t supposed to happen, but it did.
That’s just one example of how we thought something might happen and then it didn’t. There are so many other things that we figured would take place at some point so far this year, yet they never did. It can be said at times that “everything happens for a reason” although in the wrestling business you just never know what might happen until it actually does. Sometimes we get reasons. Other times there’s no explanation.
Here’s a look at ten WWE moments in 2014 that we figured would happen, but they never did. At least not yet.
