10 Reasons WWE Fans Need To Calm Down

Why WWE Network special on The Shield proves you should keep watching this fascinating new chapter of wrestling.

If you’re not paying $9.99 (or whatever the global exchange fee works out as) for the WWE Network, you’re missing out on key elements of truly understanding the larger plan at play for World Wrestling Entertainment’s future. If only watching Raw, Smackdown and Pay-Per-Views these days, you’re watching an admittedly boring product stuck in a spin cycle where the same wrestlers have the same matches for weeks on end, with seemingly no progress or end in sight. But, if you watched the Network on Wednesday evening and caught the debut of The Destruction of The Shield, what you were ultimately tuned into was the story of the future of WWE, and how it’s bright, under control and that the WWE Universe needs to calm down, shut up and basically stay tuned.
There’s a greater plan in formation in WWE, one that requires the company to take a loss in order to make a significant gain. In reforming what the company has been, WWE has created what the company will become in the future. Fundamentally sound, perpetually hungry, creative, curious and over-prepared for success, this “new” WWE is not in any way reminiscent to anything that traditional WWE fans or wrestling purists have ever seen or known of the business.
A blend of blockbuster marketing with indy gumption, what WWE wants to be is a wrestling promotion that’s so idyllic that the vision is likely going to take awhile to realize. However, once realized, the face of pro wrestling’s future will be changed forever.
Here’s ten reasons why you should calm down and definitely keep watching.
