10 Reasons CM Punk Should Stay Retired And Never Return To WWE 8

8. His Spot Has Been Taken

When CM Punk walked out of WWE after the 2014 Royal Rumble, he was still in a top position in the pecking order, just below John Cena and running neck and neck with Daniel Bryan. He enjoyed grassroots popularity from being the anti-corporate star that was the opposite of everything John Cena symbolized.
Then Daniel Bryan exploded, The Shield imploded and Paul Heyman’s client Brock Lesnar conquered the Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania.
That’s not to insinuate that if Punk returned right now he wouldn’t be just as over as he was before. He may very well be, but what he would not be is a top priority for the company. WWE looks to be heavily focused on building stars for the future, with their emphasis on Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Bray Wyatt. Should Punk return, he would likely be used to put those guys over and help take them to the next level.
CM Punk had his day in the sun, with the longest WWE title reign in modern history. It’s doubtful he would ever get there again. And a slight like that would be hard for him to accept, due to the next reason on this list.
