10 Reasons CM Punk Should Stay Retired And Never Return To WWE 7

7. The Size Of His Ego

There’s a reason that a lot of people who’ve worked with Punk over the years have labelled him a pain in the *ss. In order to truly excel in the industry, you need to have a bit of an ego and a drive to the best in the world, if you’ll pardon the phrase. But there’s a big difference in wanting to the best, and being convinced that you are the best and expecting everyone else to treat you that way. And if you listen to those who’ve dealt with the Straight Edge Superstar in the past, there’s an opinion that his ego is enormous.
That’s not to say that he hasn’t earned the right to think so highly of himself; he most certainly has. He’s got a catalog of great matches and promos that any wrestler could be proud of. But a lot of fans, and more importantly Punk himself, have placed him on a pedestal alongside the all-time greats of the industry, and he just does not belong there.
But the real problem in having an ego as large as Punk’s is that it’s hard for him to accept when he isn’t positioned as one of the top stars on the show, as evidenced by his positioning at WrestleMania XXX being one of the rumored reasons for his departure. Wrestling can require performers to be very selfless, and if you’re unable to do that without throwing a tantrum, you’re probably better off staying home.
