10. Wrestling Marriages Rarely Work

When the notorious womanizer finally decided to tie the knot and marry fellow WWE superstar AJ Lee the wrestling world was a bit surprised. After all, this is a guy who’s had his hands on more Divas than Sandra Gray. Lita, Beth Phoenix, Maria Kanellis, Traci Brooks and Daffney have all been tied to CM Punk at one point, so no one ever expected him to actually settle down, especially with another wrestler.
But now that he has, it would be wise for at least one of them to stay away from WWE. When you look back through wrestling history, there are very few examples of marriages or relationships between two performers actually working over the long term. The main reason for that is promoters are utterly unable to resist the urge to book them in an angle, usually resulting in an onscreen breakup of some sort.
Randy Savage and Elizabeth, Kevin Sullivan and Woman, Steve Austin and Debra, Steve McMichael and Debra, Marc Mero and Sable, Chris Candido and Tammy Sytch, Diamond Dallas Page and Kimberly, Jerry Lawler and The Kat, Dustin and Terri Runnells, Eddie Gilbert and Missy Hyatt and Kurt and Karen Angle are just a few of the dozens of wrestling relationships that didn’t survive the business. It’s a harsh reality and something AJ and Punk should think about before he decides to return to WWE.
