4. I Want To Watch Roman Reigns Wrestle Dave Batista, And You Should, Too

Outside of that one time that Roman Reigns called Renee Young “babygurl” or the time he drank tea with his daughter in that commercial, there really haven’t been a good number of quality “sports entertainment” moment involving Roman Reigns. If Roman Reigns is the game-changing star that he’s supposed to be, there’s one thing we know about WWE’s game changing stars: they excel at “sports entertainment.” Thus, Dave Batista needs to finish his promotional push for Guardians of the Galaxy and get back into the business of making Roman Reigns a superstar.
Batista’s starring role as “Drax the Destroyer” in Guardians opens itself up well to quality ridiculousness. Between any mention of Dave’s friendship in the movie with a talking raccoon and and enormous tree-man, to the viral video of “dancing Baby Groot,” or anything involving the movie, he’s set himself up to be fair game for ridiculousness. If all we’re setting up for is watching Big Dave screw Roman (again) out of winning the Royal Rumble and then potentially watching Big Dave getting punched in the face at Wrestlemania, then, hell…bring on the fun. By the time he left, Batista had worked off enough of the business rust to be a dependable entertainer in a bullying role.
Also, Roman Reigns is Sika’s son and Dave Batista was trained by Afa and is seen by Afa as basically being his son, too. That’s an AMAZING dynamic and one that if the company didn’t explore it with depth, they’d be missing out on the potential for magic.
