9. Kofi Kingston VS Shelton Benjamin
This is an obvious one, but not for the obvious reason, if that makes any sense.
If you look at their WWE careers, Kofi is this era’s Shelton, or Shelton is the previous era’s Kofi, if you’d prefer to look at it that way. Young, super athletic, black men with a flashy in-ring style that may or may not be held back because of what they can, and can’t, do on the mic. They both had flirtations with the main event scene, and worked in feuds with top-tier, established workers, but never quite became main eventers themselves.
For Kofi, this would be like a showcase match, where he would attempt to prove to people that he is still worth a high-profile spot on the WWE roster. It seems like a lot of people are starting to give up on him, for one reason or another. He could easily win a lot of them back with a great performance here. For Shelton, he’d be proving to North American fans that, even at the age of 39, he can still “go”. With something very important on the line for both men, you know they’d be giving it all here, trying to prove themselves, which would make for one really good match.
