6. The Story Is Just Beginning

It’s been under two years since The Shield debuted in WWE at Survivor Series 2012. Yes, WWE’s creative development is lacking. However, for as much as WWE’s creative underwhelms, WWE’s also telling a story that will likely take two more years to unfurl. In year one, Rollins, Ambrose and Reigns established themselves. In year two, we’re seeing Rollins being positioned as a main event player, with Ambrose and Reigns close behind. Dean Ambrose getting a WWE Films offer is major in that it allows him to grow in the mainstream, and as well Roman Reigns being in the mix and not looking out of place against the likes of Kane and Randy Orton speaks well for him, too.
Is year three when Reigns and Rollins break through as champions? More than likely. Is year four where Ambrose reaches his Roddy Piper-level potential? It seems certain. Are there more than enough pieces of the puzzle to fill in around these three? Absolutely. Are some of these pieces not even apparent, yet? Of course. Will there be someone in that mix that surprises the entire WWE Universe? Well, let’s predict at least two or three. The point is that this is a story that requires the WWE Universe to not demand an immediate conclusion. There is much more to this story than is being told at-present.
